Skifascination
With his first film “Ski Fascination”, Willy Bogner Jr composed something that was quite unprecedented: a skiing symphony of ski races, sketches and ski ballet. In 1966, the world had never seen such an aesthetic combination of choreographed ski turns, brightly coloured ski suits and emotional music. Shot in Ultrascope in the mountains around St. Moritz, the idea, script, production, and camera shots all came from Willy Bogner. The spectacular images opened completely new perspectives on skiing, which at the time was seen primarily as a high-speed sport. Willy added a romantic touch to skiing by associating it with beauty, harmony and fun. He didn’t even need a continuous storyline – snow, mountains and dancing on two boards as the main characters were sufficient.
