Skiing Action – From the Close Up to the Big Screen

Always to the max: In 1986, Willy Bogner Jr had brought the first ever sports film to the cinema with “Fire and Ice” – and in 2001 he went one better with “Ski to the Max”. This creative high-tech film was shot especially for the huge IMAX screen, which is several sizes bigger than anything you normally see in cinemas. “Ski to the Max” combines the grandiose mountain landscapes of the Himalayas, the USA and Canada with the breathtaking action of world-class athletes pushing their limits. Using his famous handheld camera technique, which he had developed for the Bond films, Willy Bogner also masters, for the first time, the 28-kg IMAX camera that enables shots that draw the viewer right into the action. The international team included the freeskiing legends Sverre Liliequist and Brice Lequertier, snowboarding icon Reto Lamm as well as Olympic champion Markus Wasmeier.
