It was a magnificent coup: prior to the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the skiers of the US national team refused to wear the ski suits of the local outfitter – they wanted Maria’s elegant, yet sporty “Bogners”. Without further ado, Willy Bogner flew to the USA, took measurements and equipped the women’s team with outfits from BOGNER. The stretch material gave the skiers greater freedom of movement – and also looked stylish for après-ski.
