For over ten years, Sônia Bogner worked closely with her mother-in-law Maria, although Sônia’s first appearance at the company had not necessarily been amicable. Maria had discovered Sônia in 1972 at the Valentino boutique in Rome, and had invited her to Munich. There, Sônia first had to audition in front of the entire team before the photo shoot for a BOGNER campaign. Maria criticised Sônia’s walk.
